Working mom?

Not for me!! I haven't even left the house yet and I am having anxiety about leaving him today. Thank god it is only for two days.  I don't know how people do it. I understand some have to it, and others have careers, but I never wanted to be a stay at home mom, and sometimes I go crazy, but I can't imagine leaving him all day with someone else. At least not yet anyway. He doesn't even have teeth yet!! And he is just starting to walk. I get to be there for all his firsts. Not anyone else. ME! I don't give a shit what anyone else says or thinks. I have the option for now to stay home with him, and that's exactly what I am going to do. Well, not today or tomorrow, but every day after that. Until he starts school anyway. Maybe before. We will see what happens by then. Guess I have to go finish getting ready for "work" before he gets up. This should be a fun day! I am actually kind of excited. Off I go delivering flowers!

What do you run for?

I have noticed that more and more Americans, men, women, and teenagers alike, have all taken up running. Running at the gym, at the school track, at the park, or just around your neighborhood. They run to be fit, for the thrill, to be able to feel the power of their own bodies. But with so many causes out there, why not run for someone or something else? I have personally done four 5k’s, which I started off only walking, and the last few I have started to jog. I am doing another on April 28th at the Bronx Zoo to raise money for the Lions which I hope to be able to run. www.wcsrunforthewild.org.  They offer the option to either run, or do the family fun walk. I enjoy the benefit of the physical activity and the rush I get when I finish, and at the same time I get to raise money that supports a great cause.  I was not that active before I started doing the 5k at the Bronx Zoo, but the cause really motivated me to get in shape and do it for something I love.  So if you have always wanted to be a runner and thought, “I could never do this”, think again. Anyone can be a runner, even me, who has asthma and is still slightly overweight. Start with something small, even if you do an event like the one at the Bronx Zoo that allows you to walk, and then work your way up to running. The next thing you know, you may be doing a half marathon, like the Diva http://www.runlikeadiva.com

(which also offers a 5k)or a full marathon like the Hamptons Marathon, which also offers a full, half, or 5k.  http://www.hamptonsmarathon.com/.
So whatever your reason is to run, do it for yourself. Do it to get your body into the best shape of your life. Your body mind and soul will thank you. And at the same time, you can help others by doing it for a great cause. Here are some other links to help you get started. Even if you just start off doing a walk, you are still doing better then everyone at home sitting on the couch.  Get out there today!

Blog anywhere

I responded to an add on craigslist looking for bloggers to write on their website about health, fitness, and nutrition. I responded and he liked my work and submitted my first blog to be posted tomorrow. It 's nothing spectacular, but I hope they like it and that it gets posted. It's basically an internship at this point, but it could possibly lead to a paying job. Let's hope so. I could use some extra cash.

Dun dun dun!!

Tomorrow is my big weigh in! I will have attended weight watchers 16 weeks and hopefully (fingers crossed) I reached my 10% goal. I need a two pound loss from last week. I tried really hard this week, and hope it all paid off. Wish me luck!!

Driving miss daisy?

Nope, just daisies and whatever other flowers. I saw an add in the paper for floral help just for valentines so I went in and they said they could really use a driver for feb 13th and 14th so I said ok. It's some extra cash and I don't mind driving around all day. It's only $7.50 an hour plus tips and they pay my gas and they will have food and drinks for me throughout the day. So hopefully I will have at least eight hours of work each day. Should be an interesting experience.
